On February 3, 2020, a fire broke out in a high-rise residential building in Longteng International Community, Wangu Town, Chongqing. The fire was caused by a resident on the 11th floor using alcohol for indoor disinfection near an electric heater.

  I. Basic Situation

On February 3, 2020, a fire broke out in a high-rise residential building on the 11th floor of the Longteng International residential area in Wangu Town, Chongqing City, due to the use of alcohol for indoor disinfection near an electric heater. At 7:40 am, the property management of the residential area called 119 to report the fire. However, the fire rescue team was delayed due to roadblocks in the residential area, preventing fire trucks from reaching the scene immediately.

  II. Rescue Operation

  (1) Basic Process

At 7:42 am on February 3, the aviation rescue team received a request for assistance from the local fire department. Due to serious illegal parking in the residential area, fire rescue vehicles could not reach the scene to carry out rescue operations. The fire had spread to the interior and exterior walls and was out of control. The aviation rescue team immediately dispatched a drone-mounted mobile platform carrying a ZY-XFD/I rescue drone. The mobile platform bypassed the residential area to an open space outside the wall. The drone, carrying a pressurized water extinguishing tank outside the residential area wall, flew about 50 meters in a straight line, spraying extinguishing agent into the room through the window. The operation took about 1.5 minutes, extinguishing the indoor fire and effectively controlling the situation, preventing further spread, and buying valuable time for the fire rescue personnel to break down the indoor door and extinguish the remaining fire. With the collaborative efforts of the fire department and the aviation rescue team, the fire was extinguished.

  III. Case Summary

In this high-rise building fire, traditional fire rescue equipment could not be deployed due to roadblocks in the residential area. One drone was deployed, spraying one pressurized water extinguishing tank. Due to the rapid and efficient operation of the fire drone, the fire did not spread upwards, effectively containing the spread of the fire. The drone's early suppression and control of the fire provided advance protection for the subsequent fire rescue team to safely enter the building for fire extinguishing.
