  6. Brief Description of the Drill

  The Jingmen City 2024 Safety Production Month launch ceremony and high-rise building fire drill were held in Zongxiang City, Hubei Province. The drill simulated a fire in a high-rise building under construction at a company in the Zongxiang Economic Development Zone, trapping people inside.

  After receiving the alarm, the fire and medical departments quickly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations and used heavy-duty fire-fighting and rescue drones to break open the sealed exterior windows and deliver rescue supplies, including gas masks and high-temperature fire-resistant suits, and fire hoses into the building. After rescuing the trapped personnel, medical personnel provided on-site emergency treatment.

  Simultaneously, two heavy-duty fire-fighting drones took off and sprayed foam fire extinguishing agent. After more than ten minutes of fire fighting, the fire on the 500-square-meter exterior wall was brought under control.

  The drill demonstrated the unique role of advanced equipment in rescue operations and tested the combat capabilities of the fire rescue team. It enhanced the coordinated combat capabilities of social emergency response units and the command capabilities of relevant departments in responding to such emergencies.

  2. Description of Standard Drill Procedures

  Indoor fire: When a drone sprays Class A foam to extinguish the fire, it is recommended that the distance between the drone body and the window be 5m to 8m. In this operation, because the area from the window to the inside of the room is open, accurate distance measurement is not possible, so auxiliary personnel on the fire site side should guide the drone operator during flight operations.

  Exterior wall fire: When a drone sprays Class A foam to extinguish the fire, it is recommended that the distance between the drone body and the plane fire be 8m to 15m. At this time, the forward obstacle avoidance function can be used to accurately measure the distance between the drone body and the plane fire, and the distance can be adjusted according to the fire situation.

  Recommended operating height for different fire extinguishing media: When a drone carries a DN50 special fire hose and sprays Class A foam fire extinguishing agent to extinguish fires in high-rise buildings, the recommended maximum flight height is 120 meters. When carrying a DN40 special fire hose and spraying pure water, the recommended flight height is 40 meters. When carrying a DN25 special fire hose and spraying pure water, the recommended flight height is 50 meters.

  For a fire width of 10m to 15m, it is recommended to use one drone to extinguish the fire. For a fire width of 20m to 30m, two drones can extinguish the fire simultaneously, and so on. When extinguishing fires, two drones are prohibited from operating simultaneously on the same vertical line (the downward airflow of the upper drone will affect the lower drone).

  3. Description of Drill Results

  Heavy-duty fire-fighting and rescue drones first launch window-breaking projectiles to break the exterior glass and then launch rescue supply projectiles to deliver gas masks and high-temperature fire-resistant suits. After the indoor personnel put them on, they successfully escaped.

  Heavy-duty fire-fighting and rescue drones, carrying DN50 special fire hoses, sprayed Class A foam fire extinguishing agent, and after about 2 minutes of fire fighting, the fire was completely controlled.
